What Shape Glasses Should I Choose?

For Oval-Shaped Faces

Characterised by:

  • Balanced proportions, tapering off towards the forehead and chin.

Hot tip on choosing glasses:

  • Suited to all frame shapes but especially rectangular or more angular ones, which enhance the definition of your face.

For Squared-Shaped Faces

Characterised by:

  • Similar proportions in width and length with square chin and broad forehead.

Hot tip on choosing glasses:

  • Choose oval or round shaped glasses to help balance the strong angular lines on a square face.  Further, rimless glasses with soft edges can add contrast to a square face.

For Heart-Shaped Faces

Characterised by:

  • Broad forehead, high cheek bones, tapering towards a narrower chin.

Hot tip on choosing glasses:

  • Cat-eyes or butterfly styles are great for heart-shaped faces.  Also, try designs with low temples and avoid decorative features at the top to minimise attention drawn to the widest part of the face.  Finally, light-coloured, round frames or rimless glasses can also help soften the wide forehead.

For Round-Shaped Faces

Characterised by:

  • Proportional in length and width with Gentle curves and few angular lines

Hot tip on choosing glasses:

  • Choose angular or rectangular shapes to bring contrast to a round face; they also help to visually lengthen it.  Frames with high temples would also help make a round face appear longer.
