How do I enter my prescription when ordering glasses?

The following examples cover the most commonly used formats by

Opticians to provide prescription for glasses.  Follow the colour

codes in each example to see how to enter your prescription when placing

your order with us (for glasses/sunglasses/swimming goggles).  Please

ensure your prescription is no more than 24 months old from your

Optician.

Alternatively, you can email your prescription to us and we'll do the

deciphering for you.

Caution: Contact lens prescription must not be used for ordering glasses

as they are not suitable for use on spectacles.

Optician's Prescription Example - Format 1:

> "Single Vision - Near" lenses (i.e. reading lenses) need to be selected

in this example since "SV Near" is shown on the Optician's prescription.

> "pl" stands for plano or 0

> Please note sometimes PD (Pupillary Distance) for right and left eyes

are combined together so using the above prescription, PD would

   become "64/62" (i.e. 32 x 2/31 x 2), where the former is Pupillary

Distance - Distance and the latter is Pupillary Distance - Near.  In this

case, just enter "64" into both right and left "Pupillary Distance

   - Distance" fields and "62" into both right and left eye "Pupillary

   Distance - Near" fields.

Optician's Prescription Example - Format 2:

> "Single Vision - Distance" (i.e. everyday use) lenses need to be

selected since "SV Distance" is shown on the Optician's prescription.

> In this example, both Cylinder and Axis for the right eye are not

shown on the prescription so just enter "0" into these fields.

> Also, there is no "Add" measurement shown on the prescription so

enter "none" into the "Add" field for right and left eyes.

> Only one PD measurement (i.e. 64) is shown on the prescription,

which by convention, is the combined distance PD for both eyes.  In

this case, enter "64" into both right and left eye "Pupillary Distance

   - Distance" fields as shown.

Optician's Prescription Example - Format 3:

> "Multifocals" (also referred to as "progressive) lenses need to be

selected since "Multifocals" is shown on the Optician's prescription.

> In this example, both Cylinder and Axis for the left eye are not

shown on the prescription so just enter "0" into these fields.

> Combined right eye + left eye distance PD and near PD are shown on

the optician's prescription (i.e. 63/60); just enter "63" into both right eye

and left eye "Pupillary Distance - Distance" fields and "60" into both right

eye and left eye "Pupillary Distance - Near".
