Reading and Computer Work: What's the correct reading or computer distance?

A comfortable reading distance will vary between 30cm and 50cm

depending on the length of your arm and what is comfortable for you.

As for the computer, it should be set at an arm’s length away from you,

typically between 50cm and 70cm, about 5 to 10 degrees below eye

level.  For multifocal spectacle users however (does not include

multifocal contact lens users), their computers should be set approximately

30 degrees below eye level since the relevant prescription area on their

lenses is placed below eye level. If the computer is set straight ahead

instead, the user may find herself tilting her head backwards to focus,

which could result in neck strain over prolonged periods.
